Our Family

Meet the Growers & Pizza makers

At Olive Branch Gardens, farming is more than work—it’s our family’s way of life. Amanda, a registered dietitian, and Matt, a dedicated teacher, combine their passions for health, education, and growing real food. Alongside their daughters, Olive and Penny, and a lively crew of animals, they care for the land with love. Every pizza we make carries that same spirit of family, honesty, and community.

Our Beginnings

How It All Started

In 2020, Amanda, a registered dietitian and new mom, was laid off during COVID. We leaned into growing food and selling veggies and microgreens at local markets. We brought slices of homemade grow and dough pizza for lunch, and people kept asking where it came from. We made more. That’s how Penny’s Imperfect Pizza was born—named after our daughter Penny. Shapes may vary, but the flavor always delivers. It’s part of the charm.

Regenerative Methods

Our Barboursville farm sits on less than one acre. We use organic and regenerative methods with no pesticides or herbicides. Compost, crop rotation, pollinator-friendly crops, cover crops, and insect netting keep our soil alive and our harvests healthy. Along with seasonal vegetables and microgreens, we care for honey bees, chickens, and three adopted pot-bellied pigs.
