Amanda started her career a a registered dietitian, she realized early on about the disconnect between agriculture and nutrition. Food is not about calories, but about how we show love, appreciation and is our greatest connection to nature. In the following she volunteered on several farms with and food advocacy organizations. When Amanda and Matt moved to Virginia, they started homesteading and slowly Olive Branch Gardens was born. Matt plays an integral part of the farm and market operation while also teaching at Charlotesville High School. Being outside and getting his hands dirty in the soil is one of his favorite things. Our farm did not have a good name, until Olive was born. Together we believe in the beauty of tending the earth and leaving it better than it was before.
